Book 10 in the Clans of Kalquor series
Betrayal. War. The sins of the fathers are visited on the sons and the woman they love.
Tasha Salter is caught in a quandary she wants to fall in love, but past trauma keeps her from commitment. The only people she trusts are her family, especially in this time of treason against the Kalquorian Empire. When she and her three-year-old cousin are abducted by the revolt’s shadowy leader, matters of the heart no longer apply. She finds herself in a battle for their survival.
Clan Falinset left Kalquor in self-imposed exile when their parents’ illegal activities threatened their honor. Dramok Falinset, Imdiko Nur, and Nobek Wekniz only want to be left alone to live their quiet lives. Yet the drumbeat of war is sounding as traitorous forces prepare to attack Kalquor. Worse still, the revolt’s leader wants his son Falinset at his side and refuses to take no for an answer.
A wild escape attempt throws Tasha and her young charge into the reluctant care of Clan Falinset. With betrayal in their past and war in their future, there is no reason to find love. Yet passion flares between those who should be enemies, leading Clan Falinset and Tasha to realize that they are not on opposite sides after all. Together they have the chance to heal.
Yet the sins of the fathers have come to rest on the shoulders of their sons. Falinset must make an impossible choice bow to his father’s blackmail and turn traitor to the Empire or doom his clan by saving the young princess of Kalquor and the woman he’s fallen in love with.

Alien Hostage A Reverse Harem Romance Clans of Kalquor Book 10 edition by Tracy St John Romance eBooks
This book series has gone down a little in my opinion. This book started out well. I loved the introduction scene and then it goes on to give you an idea of the issues Tasha, the royal family and Kalquor have to overcome. The story was really well written on the front end.I try not to give spoilers so it makes this review hard to write. Bear with me.
After it gets going a bit, you get the story from the kidnappers and the victims point of view but a very overall description of the imperial clan's reaction to their 3 yr old daughter being taken. There was a lot of overview of how the kingdom was affected in general but, it was missing the details that I feel it should have touched on regarding the imperial clan.
There was a scene in which the empress breaks down completely in a moment of sharing with another matara (don't want to give too much away). That was so well written. As a mother I could almost feel her gut wrenching pain at someone taking her child. After that's where it started to go downhill.
The Dramok of the clan that ends up aiding Tasha is a jackass in my opinion. He didn't give off that dramok type personality at all to me. Then the sex scenes. I'm not into all the BDSM crap. If you are, you'll love this book. I like a little dominance but this book takes it to a WHOLE new level. It was just really creepy and overdone to me. I ended up skipping through the last couple of sex scenes. I can suffer through most of those scenes with a few eye rolls but, this book took it to a whole new level. And why do we get books where the men fall in love with each other but when they find their mataras suddenly they are more like co-workers? A little tenderness, or kissing shouldn't offend the naysayers too much. Anyway.....
Their time in hiding was just looooong and drawn out. That part of the story was weak and didn't make sense to me. They last part of the book picked up again for a bit. Then once again, it let me down.
A specific telling of the rescue of the princess and reunion with her parents was non-existent. Really? I wanted to read of the emotional reunion between parents and child. To read of their gratefulness to the surprising person who made it happen. NOT. That was the ONLY reason I kept reading the book to the end and felt duped. Instead, it was basically a general overview of the kingdom and what happened with loose ends.
Don't know that I'll be buying anymore of this series. Very disappointing.

Alien Hostage A Reverse Harem Romance Clans of Kalquor Book 10 edition by Tracy St John Romance eBooks Reviews
I hesitated to read this book because of the number of Luke warm reviews it got. I read the three following books first, leaving this one for last. I should have not listened to the detractors though. "Alien Hostage" is well written with all the excitement, action, passion, and even warm fuzzies, of the other Clans of Kalquor books. Tasha is an interesting heroine, with all the strength we have come to expect from Tracy St. John's female characters. Clan Falinset is a little different from the other Clans we have met in this series, especially the Nobek. It was nice to see how a strong Nobek who is not a warrior fulfills his need to protect. One of my favorite characters in this book was Narpok. How awesome to see what kind of a person she is capable of becoming. I would love to see some more human male characters who are not horrible people. I would also love to see how clans handle human females who don't get aroused by pain. How would Kalquorians deal with that? Maybe in the future. In the meantime, enjoy "Alien Hostage". It is well worth reading.
There are reviews on this book that really shouldn't be here. If you don't like the subject matter, why in this universe would you buy this or accept an ARC for it?
I've read other "alien menage" series and I have to say that this series is as good (or better) as any out there. This author's writing is easy to read and emotional in impact. The stories are extremely erotic MFMM and MMM is hinted at but not described in any sort of detail. This is all about the woman and she is most definitely one very lucky lady. The matara of a clan is treated with respect and desire. The men in the clan know that she is the key to the future of their people since there are few females on their planet able to give birth.
If you are new to this genre, give it a try if you are tempted by the subject matter. If it offends you, move onto something else. If you enjoy this series half as much as me, you'll have found your new best read.
I have read all the kalquor books and this is my least favorite. I felt that Tracy St. John rushed the book to press, resulting in an inferior book compared to the rest.
The book felt like a novella compared to her other books. It was quite short. The main characters were underdeveloped. Out of all the kalquorian males she has written about the 3 presented had the weakest personalities. Why would Falinset continue living next door to his biological father? Why would Wekniz, as a Nobel male, allow his clan to be threatened by Maf? Would Maf get the message Falinset didn't want anything to do with him by now? And Felom, the pickiest female alive, chose to sleep with and have a child by the physically imperfect Maf? What happened to Tasha's desire to be a sustainable architect? And nobody in the entire Kalquorian empire, which keeps decreasing year by year, that Maf is the Basma by now? And really, the kalquorian males have earth females with uteruses. Can't a brilliant evil scientist figure how to gene splice kalquorian embryos, cure the genetic defect and force the earth women to become surrogates to carry the next generation of kalquorians. That is a far more despicable plan than letting the kalquorian empire die and turn to dust.
Of course we aren't really reading these books for the story plots, but there were a lot of holes in the story. I was far more intrigued by the sex scene in chapter one and those characters, than Clan Falinset. That's who I wanted to see the story about. The sex scenes were rather hum drum, not as exciting or kinky as in other books.
Tracy take your time writing the books. I would rather wait for a well written book rather getting something sooner.
